This course is designed to help students explore the true meaning of basic human values such as freedom, equality, rights, privileges, and justice. Through the study and discussion of selected English readings and listening materials, we hope to determine what it takes to be happy-as individuals, and as a society-in an evermore globalized world.
Students are expected to be actively engaged and to be open to new perspectives by expressing themselves in English-both in writing and in oral communication. Participants will experience the joy of liberating their ideas and feelings through the use of 窶徭imple窶 English.

The ultimate goal of this course is to nurture an open and well-educated mind that can appreciate diversity of values and perceptions with equity, rather than being shaded by cultural biases. Students will learn to apply and integrate new knowledge into their original viewpoints and present them to others in English. The joy of sharing thoughts and ideas to make the world a better place will be experienced by being engaged in this course.
