講義概要
英語圏の大学で教育を受けるのに十分な英語力を身につけること目標とし，TOEFLの試験形式・内容に留意しつつ総合的な英語力向上のための訓練を行う。
講義の目的
To prepare to take the TOEFL iBT exam. In class, we will focus especially on improving speaking and listening skills needed for the test, including organizing speech, synthesizing information, stating opinions and summarizing, word stress, sentence stress and intonation, pausing, and vocabulary. We will review the structure of the entire exam and techniques for success in each task. Students will have access to multiple practice tests, and will receive private coaching on how to improve areas where they are weakest.
講義計画
Each class will include the following components:
*multiple opportunities to practice listening and speaking tasks on the test, with feedback form peers and from a native English speaker (the instructor)
*presentation of techniques for specific sections of the exam.
*simulation of university classroom setting, lecture, and discussion style typical in English-speaking countries.

Only students taking the course for credit will be admitted. Auditing not permitted.
成績評価
Students will be evaluated on their own improvement over the course of 15 weeks, not in comparison to their classmates. Some study techniques that will lead to improvement include: listening to the CD many times during the week; formulating what you want to say in writing, in preparation for class; review of vocabulary; taking practice exam at home as well as in class.
