How do artists become artists? What kind of everyday life do they have? What are their working methods?
In the morning lecture of the Modern Art Workshop B, "Meeting the Artist" I will introduce four contemporary, internationally active artists
based in Berlin/Germany. In the workshop we will focus on the creative process, using different materials and methods to produce artworks.
At the end of the course the students will have the chance to show their artworks in a group exhibition.
The students will achieve personal insight into the daily life and works of artists today in a big city in Europe. The students will learn to express themselves in different materials and techniques. The class meets on four Saturdays, October 13 / 20 / 27, November 10, from 10.30 to 17.30 (lunch break included)
1) Lecture: Friederike Feldmann (Germany)
Workshop. We will produce drawings and a three dimensional object.
2) Lecture: Andrea Schomburg (Germany)
Workshop: We will explore the possibilities of structures, using self-made photographs and painting.
3) Lecture: Eva Grothum (Norway)
Workshop: We will explore the world of ornament, grids and patterns, using drawing, painting, and paper-cut.
4) Lecture: Paco Knoeller (Germany)
Workshop: We will transform natural forms, using drawings and paintings.
