概要

講義概要

This Workshop concentrates on "The Human Face". In the lecture at the beginning of each class I will introduce artworks of important European artists with a host of visual materials and hand-outs. In the following workshop the students will have the chance to express themselves in artworks. They will experiment with different kinds of materials and technics, including drawing, painting, using a living model and sculpting with clay.
At the end of the course the students have the chance to show their works in a group exhibition.

講義の目的

The students will enlarge their fundamental knowledge about important artists and artworks, their background and meaning. They will achieve practical knowledge in using different materials and technics and in finding ways to express themselves.

講義計画

The class meets on four Saturdays, April 14/21/28 and May 12, from 10.30 to 17.30 (lunch break included)

1) "Concise History of Portrait"
The Genre of Portrait from Renaissance up to today.
In the workshop we will try different approaches of producing a portrait, using drawing, painting and photographs.

2) "The Unknown Self"
Artists and their Self-Portraits (Rembrandt, Van Gogh and others)
In the workshop we will produce self-portraits with different materials, using a mirror.

3) "The Silent Face"
Vermeer, Cezanne, Gerhard Richter and others.
In the workshop we will use a living model, exploring the connection of body and face.

3) "The Third Dimension"
The sculptures of Medardo Rosso and others
In the workshop we will produce a sculpture of a head with clay.

成績評価

The regular attendance of lecture and workshop, the participation, dilligence and the artworks will be graded.
