Purpose of lecture

The course is designed for students to attain the following objectives:

(1) To write a comprehensive technical term paper on a Civil Engineering topic.

(2) To be able to make PowerPoint presentations on Civil Engineering topics.

(3) To improve listening comprehension using Civil Engineering related videos/movies.

1. Introduction to course and self introduction by students.

2. How to make a good PPT presentation.

3. Presentation #1 - assigned article and discussion.

4. Presentation #1 - assigned article (continued) and discussion.

5. Video quiz #1 and discussion.

6. Presentation #2 - assigned topic and discussion.

7. Presentation #2 - assigned topic (continued) and discussion.

8. Presentation #2 - assigned topic (continued) and discussion.

9. Video quiz #2 and discussion.

10. Presentation #3 - Term Paper - 1st Round and discussion.

11. Presentation #3 - Term Paper - 1st Round (continued) and discussion.

Vocabulary List and Quizzes- 20%, Written Assignments and Term Paper- 30%, Presentation Assignments - 50%.
