講義概要

I 電気電子工学についての科学技術英語力を深める。授業は英語で行い,必要に応じて日本語で説明する。受講生全員は授業中の課題について英語での発表を行う。II 電気電子工学数学,電気電子材料及び電子素子,電気磁気学,電気電子回路,電気電子工学技術者倫理。(注)本科目は2クラスに分けて実施する。
The course will be taught in English with a Japanese language translation of important words and phrases available at the beginning of each lecture. The course will cover a broad range of topics constituting the fundamentals of electrical and electronic engineering. The following subjects will be discussed: (a) Engineering mathematics; (b) Electronic materials and electronic devices; (c) Electrostatics and electromagnetism; (d) Electric circuits; (e) The role of electrical and electronic engineers in society.

講義計画

1. Basics of Engineering Mathematics
o Determinations; Matrix algebra; Simultaneous linear equations.
o Vector analysis, Gradient, divergence and curl of a vector; Fourier transforms.
o Differential equations.
2. Introduction to Quantum Mechanics
o Planck's Hypothesis and the Photoelectric Effect; Schrodinger equation.
3. Properties of Semiconductors
o Band gap; Conduction mechanisms; Hall effect and photoluminescence.
4. Modern Electronic Devices
o P-N junctions; Bipolar and field effect transistors; Semiconductor lasers; Solar cells.
5. Basic Digital Electronics
o Operation amplifiers; Boolean algebra; Truth tables.
6. Magnetic Materials
o Classical definition of diamagnetism, paramagnetism and ferromagnetism.
o Ferromagnetic Domains; Magnetic sensors and magnetic recording media.
7. Electrostatics and Electromagnetism
o Electric flux; Gauss's Law; Force between charges; Capacitance.
o Magnetic flux density; Fields around current carrying conductors; Electromagnetic induction.
o Motion of electrons in electric and magnetic fields; Magnetic circuits.
8. Direct Current Circuits
o Ohm's law; Kirchhoff's Law; Simple series and parallel circuits.
o Wheatstone bridge; Transient analysis.
9. Alternating Current Circuits
o Sinusoidal waveforms; Average and effective values.
o Analysis of series and parallel LCR circuits.
o Resonant circuits; Power factor; Transformers; Applications.
10. The Role of Electrical and Electronic Engineers in Society
o What is a professional engineer?
o Responsibilities and ethics.

成績評価

・Continuous assessment, consisting of short tests and oral presentations.
