講義概要

This course intends that students’ review and understand the protocols (e.g., copyright/‘Copy left’, Creative Commons License (CCL)) for implementing Open Educational Resources (OERs) and other e-resources (e.g. Google Scholar) to support academic work. Understanding how online resources can support academic desktop research along with the role of ebooks, ejournals and other online research tools will provide an overview of what is now assumed to be the digital library.

講義の目的

The main purpose of this course is to provide the students’ with an overview of elearning tools and processes so as to develop an understanding of the role and support services of the digital library and its e-resources for desktop academic research. The course will also review, apply and assess the quality of these generic elearning resources, e.g. YouTube videos, ejournals etc.

The course learning objectives are as follows:
On completion of this course participating students will be able to:

1. Develop the generic learning skills given in the overall program learning objectives;

2. Identify and define the nature of e-resources that support elearning;

3. Gain an understanding of the role and purpose of the digital library to support elearning;
4. Identify strategies for selecting eresources to support academic tasks such as desktop research;

5. Use evaluation criteria as a means of assessing the quality of digital resources; and

6. Engage with and author various e-resources for a user proposed project.

講義計画

Session 1:
Introduction to the course and the participants, learning objectives and eAssessment;
Session 2:
Defining the role and purpose of the digital library to support elearning;
Session 3:
Strategies for identifying and selecting eresources for academic purposes such as desktop research;
Session 4:
Quality Assurance (QA) evaluation criteria for assessing digital resources;
Session 5:
Authoring e-resources for a user proposed project; and,
Session 6:
Plenary (Presentation, feedback and discussion of performance for future improvement).

教科書・参考書等

No prescribed textbook. Open Educational Resources (OERs) will be used as given online.

関連科目・履修の条件等

It is expected that students have some competency in English and have enrolled onto the “Online Learning and ePortfolio” course.

The overall distribution of the marks are allocated to the learning activities as given below:

This course will be offered in a blended learning mode including both face to face and an online learning environment. All the course materials and activities will be available online.
