Students will be engaged in researching ESD projects related to their own area of specialization in a multidisciplinary R&D environment.

講義の目的

The main purpose of this course is to provide the students’ with an understanding of ESD policy and implementation through student centered collaborative research projects. This will be achieved through raising the student’s awareness of UNESCO’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and implications for technical institutions and the associated industries.

The course learning objectives are as follows:
On completion of this course participating students will be able to:

1. Develop the generic learning skills given in the overall program learning objectives;

2. Apply the concept of ESD for engineering education;

3. Relate engineering education to UNESCO’s Millennium Development Goals and the contemporary move towards Sustainable Development Goals;

4. Propose an ESD group-based project related to a chosen multi-disciplinary area and personal/group interest;

5. Use collaborative online tools to research, co-author and report about the chosen ESD team-based project; and,

6. Present coursework through an evidence-based reflective eportfolio.

講義計画

Session 1:
Introduction to the course and the participants, learning objectives and eAssessment;
Session 2:
Defining the concept of ESD and understanding its role in engineering education;
Session 3:
Understanding the shift from the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) towards Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs);
Session 4:
Developing an ESD project across specialist subject areas;
Session 5:
Collaborative report writing of ESD projects using online tools; and,

教科書・参考書等

No prescribed textbook. Open Educational Resources (OERs) will be used as given online.

関連科目・履修の条件等

It is expected that students have some competency in English and have enrolled onto the “Online Learning and ePortfolio” course.

成績評価

Evaluation of this online flexible learning course will mainly be conducted through a student led self-assessment report of learning activities. Collaborative group work linked to reflective feedback demonstrating thinking skills and the use of ICT tools to support critical and creative thinking will also be a core emphasis of self-evaluation.

This approach will reflect Achievement based Assessment for Learning using an online learning eportfolio containing the evidence of the learning activities as a form of eAssessment for course credit. The overall distribution of the marks are allocated to the learning activities as given in below:

Online Communication
Collaborative eTools
Reflection Evidence
Organisation & Presentation
Quality Enhancement

The Pass Mark is 60%
